NSS Labs Security Value Map for Intrusion Prevention Systems
Sourcefire FirePOWER™ Appliances Recommended for Security Effectiveness and Value

NSS Labs has recently issued its first Security Value Map (SVM) for Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS). The SVM is a unique graphical representation of the IPS market that maps the security effectiveness and value of products based on real-world test results. Sourcefire’s FirePOWER™ appliances are among the top “recommended” IPS solutions based on security effectiveness and value.

The firm tested three Sourcefire FirePOWER appliances – the 8260, 8250 and 8120 – all of which achieved 99 percent in overall detection and protection, exceeding Sourcefire’s previous industry record of 98 percent set in 2011. More than that, as a direct example of the “power” of FirePOWER, the 8260 became one of the first IPS appliances tested at more than 30 Gbps for real world traffic inspection. NSS Labs also tested our Virtual Appliance, which achieved the same detection and prevention ratings as our physical appliances.

Demonstrated by the SVM, the FirePOWER appliances’ consistent and linear performance results and low total cost of ownership (TCO) make them a trusted solution for enterprise customers who need to scale their network security deployments with larger throughput models.
